Welcome to our local retreat- The Sand Bar! Located just 30 yards off route 1 on a quiet street in Wells, Maine. We are less than 1.5 miles from the local Harbor beach and playground.
The Sand Bar is the perfect home base for an unforgettable southern Maine beach vacation! Our family-friendly property is conveniently located near all of Wells' public beaches, with more to explore in nearby Ogunquit or Kennebunkport. Beach towels are provided so that’s one less thing to pack!
The property has 3 bedrooms: one king, one queen, and a bunk room with one full bed and two 6 ft. high lofted twin beds that kids will love. There is also a sleeper sofa in the main living area. If you are traveling with an infant, we have a portacrib, high chair and other baby gear available.
After a day of sightseeing or hanging at the beach, come back and relax in the open concept kitchen/living/dining area with your favorite cold beverage. Stream your favorite movies and shows on the 70-inch Smart TV. (Bring your subscription log-ins.) The kids have their own TV (not smart but has hookups and a gaming system)half bath, toys, and games in the bunk room.
At mealtimes, there’s room for everyone to gather for good food and conversation, including the cook! Up to 8 people can sit at the extra large bar, and the dining table seats 6. Whether you’re eating takeout, or grilling burgers, we have you covered with a gas grill, refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, microwave, garbage disposal, toaster, coffee station, dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and basic oils/spices. A washer and dryer are located in the basement bathroom.
The fully-fenced sandy back yard will appeal to both kids and adults. Challenge someone to a game of horseshoes, or bocce. Relax in an Adirondack chair while the kids swing, slide, or play in the sand. In the evening, sit around the fire and toast marshmallows or make s’mores.
Love food trucks and craft beer? Just 1.5 miles down the road is Congdon’s After Dark, the largest Food Truck park in northern New England, which features a rotating line-up of different food trucks and Maine craft beers every day starting at 4.
If you’re looking to explore surrounding towns, a 6-mile drive north will take you to the charming village of Kennebunkport, where both former Bush Presidents have their summer home on Walker’s Point. A 6-mile drive south will take you to Ogunquit, where you can visit Ogunquit Beach, stroll along the Marginal Way cliff walk, or see Broadway caliber musicals at the legendary Ogunquit Playhouse. Portland, with its acclaimed food and craft beer scene, is about a 35 minute drive north, and Freeport, home to L.L. Bean, is about an hour away.
